Elizabeth and Michel Visit the Macy's Flower Show

Every spring, Macy's puts on a flower show in five cities across the country.  There are demonstrations, classes, prizes, and other events, but the thing to see is the garden display.  I just recently heard about the State Street Macy's flower show (Thanks, Rashida!), and Michel begrudgingly agreed to accompany me.  This year's theme was The Secret Garden, and it took up the 9th floor of the store..  The display area was a series of themed gardens utilizing different flowers and other vegetation that went with the theme.  We ended up really enjoying it!

 I liked the cute topiaries!

 A "Green" garden

The Surrealism Garden--note the portrait of Salvador Dali made out of flowers.  This was one of our favorites!

A mix between the Scottish highlands and a mushroom forest

 An Asian inspired garden

 An English cottage inspired garden

 The succulents garden

The Southwest inspired garden

The centerpiece of the show was the Old Hollywood ball gown made entirely of red flowers and plants.  It was gorgeous!

We recommend a visit to the Macy's Flower Show.  It won't take long, and it's really lovely to see such beautiful plant life, especially after this long, cold, never ending winter!

  1. Can you imagine anything like this being a hit in Houston? No! The flower show this weekend is the azaleas, which are about a month later than usual, but I have been to the flower show in NYC twice and it is an amazing, creative, fulfilling experience! I'm glad you heard about it!
